Maura's City of Hope badge as an Epidemiology Research Specialist. The back said "2/95" which is around the time she was doing quite a bit of bike racing. She was working just 20 hrs per week but doing about the same number of hours on the bike (targeting 1996).
In loving memory of Maura (1964-2008), my best friend. This blog is a gift to our sons, Sam and JJ and to everyone who knew her. The entries are in no particular order but are tagged by year and subject. Most everyone know she raced bikes for a long time but did not really see her at races. As anyone can see, she is big on cycling, Hawaii, anything pink and most importantly, life.

Maura's 5th Grade Class Photo
This is the last of the set of grade school photos I got from Judith's archives. Maura is in the back row, 2nd from the right. What struck me with this picture is how all the girls in the front wearing skirts had these color matched knee-high socks on. (As with the 4th grade class photo, the wind seems to be blowing from left to right.)
Maura's 4th Grade Class Photo
Maura's 3rd Grade Class Photo
Maura's 3rd Grade Class photo. She is in the 3rd row from the front, 4th from the left. Merlinda School is still around today but I'm sure the demographics had completely changed over the past 41 years.
Maura's Kindergarten Class
Maura's Kindergarten Class Picture 1969. I got several of her grade school class pictures from Judith recently. Merlinda School is in West Covina. Maura is in the middle row, 5th from the left.
